About the Area:
The area in front of the electricity sub-station was planted with wildflower turf in 2022 and wild flower seeds. This will be mown once a year and the cuttings removed to reduce the nutrients in the soil to favour more wild flowers. Just to your right is Corporation Road. Known as "The Corporation Road" and constructed with public funds during the industrialisation of Newport and the development of the Lysaght's Orb Steelworks. It served its purpose for many years as a transportation link from Western Newport where many people lived to the places of work in the East. The opening of the Transporter Bridge in 1906 did make the journey a lot easier for many people
